A film about what it takes to hold a vision of what is necessary for our communities--through the story of Shirley Chisholm's historic run for the presidency in 1972



Featuring:

  • Historian Robin Kelley, author of books including Freedom Dreams: The Black Radical Imagination, a celebration of the power of imagination to transform society through the histories of black activists and thinkers over the past century; and Yo' Mama's Disfunktional!: Fighting the Culture Wars in Urban America
  • Tammy Bang Luu, a senior organizer with the Labor/Community Strategy Center and Bus Riders Union and a co-host on the Strategy Center’s weekly radio show "Voices from the Frontlines" on KPFK 90.7.
  • Margaret Prescod, co-coordinator of the Global Women's Strike (GWS) in the U.S., author of Black Women: Bringing It All Back Home, Margaret is a co-founder of the Every Mother is a Working Mother Network and host of "Sojourner Truth" Tuesday mornings on Pacifica Radio's KPFK, 90.7 FM.
