IN MEMORY OF LEO BAEFSKY...
We are saddened by the loss of Leo Baefsky, a thoughtful and dedicated activist/scholar, who
spent his life working for a better world. Leo devoted many years of care to the Southern California Library as a member of our Board.
We will miss him.
From the L.A. Times Obituary: Beloved husband and brother, devoted father and grandfather, respected community activist, scholar,
contrarian, thinker and student, Leo lived every moment of his long and meaningful life with a deep and fundamental concern for the
well-being of his fellow travelers. From his earliest days, Leo was driven to help. Braving the frigid Chicago winter as a 16 year-old
undernourished youth on a WPA road crew, he earned $0.25/hour to supplement the meager family income during the Great Depression.
