This website has information that can be used by many people--community members,
researchers, students, teachers, and others.
It tells the story of Charlotta Bass, a crusading journalist and extraordinary
political activist who fought for civil rights for many decades in the first part
of the twentieth century. It also has resources that can be used to learn about Bass
in more detail, including information about the Library's Charlotta
Bass Collection, including historical documents and memorabilia
and photos that can be downloaded; information about
materials related to the California Eagle, including
photos and articles
that can be downloaded; information about related collections at the Library;
a bibliography of web-based and other materials on Charlotta Bass
and the California Eagle; and links to sites
that provide background information on some of the terms, events, and people
mentioned on this site.
We invite you to contact us here at the Southern
California Library to let us know what types of information would be helpful to
you on this website.
