About the Artist:

Vibiana is a painter, printmaker, mural artist, altarista, and Chicana activist who has been seeking justice through her art for nearly four decades. She got started in the 1970s doing teatro, a street theater movement rooted in East L.A., where she was born. She was one of the first artists to come out of Self Help Graphics, a world-renowned cultural arts organization in Boyle Heights, and was recently honored with a lifetime achievement award by the city of Los Angeles.
